Children’s Day is an annual event celebrated on June 1st, known as International Children’s Day. It is a day dedicated to commemorating the tragic event of Lidice Massacre on June 10th, 1942, and honoring all children who have lost their lives in wars. It also serves as a platform to raise awareness against the mistreatment and abuse of children and to advocate for their rights.
In November 1949, during the council meeting of the International Democratic Women’s Federation in Moscow, representatives from China and other countries passionately exposed the heinous crimes committed by imperialists and reactionary forces, involving the killings and poisoning of innocent children. In response, the meeting concluded that June 1st should be recognized as International Children’s Day. This significant date was chosen to safeguard children’s rights to survival, health, education, and nurturing, as well as to promote the overall well-being of children worldwide. Additionally, the purpose of this special day is to stand united against the senseless slaughter and harm inflicted upon children.
Since then, numerous countries around the world have designated June 1st as a day to celebrate children and advocate for their well-being.
