In 2007, the former CEO of Volkswagen, Martin Winterkorn, created the slogan “DasAuto,” which translates to “The Car” in English. This phrase symbolizes Volkswagen as the epitome of automobiles. Winterkorn confidently stated, “Only Volkswagen Group, as a company that centralizes numerous brands and products, has the right to claim mastery of the essence of cars and become a symbol of the automotive industry.”

Furthermore, “DasAuto” is a German phrase where “das” serves as a prefix indicating word gender and holds no specific meaning. In the German language, nouns have gender-specific prefixes, distinguishing between masculine, neuter, and feminine nouns. “Auto” simply means “car” in German. Essentially, “DasAuto” carries the same meaning as “car” in the Chinese language.

Translating “DasAuto” into English results in “TheAuto.” It can be understood as “This is the essence of a car.”
