The passing score for the in-school English test is 425 or above. The College English Test (CET), supervised by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, is a nationwide English exam. The main candidates for this exam are current undergraduate and graduate students who have completed the College English Course according to the curriculum. The standardized CET exams for both CET-4 and CET-6 were prepared at the end of 1986 and officially implemented in 1987. The purpose of the CET-4 exam is to ensure the proper implementation of the college English curriculum and provide an objective and accurate measurement of students’ English proficiency, in order to serve the improvement of the quality of college English teaching in our country.
