TYO is the abbreviation for Tokyo, the capital city of Japan. Located in the central part of the Kanto Plain, facing Tokyo Bay, Tokyo is an international metropolis and the central city of the Tokyo metropolitan area, one of the three major metropolitan areas in Japan. On March 28th, 1869, the capital of Japan was relocated from Kyoto to Tokyo. Since the time of the Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokyo has become one of the major cities in Japan.
